Derek Sobieraj is a Chicago-born real estate industry professional who expertly navigates and valuates real estate assets. Since beginning his real estate career in 2016, Mr. Sobieraj has been involved in hundreds of real estate transactions and projects which range from the acquisition, development and disposition of residential real estate and affordable housing assets, to investment sales, including portfolio analysis and portfolio strategy consulting, to the valuation and appraisal of a variety of residential and commercial real estate assets covering the spectrum of single and multifamily, retail, industrial, institutional, non-profit and special uses.
Currently, Mr. Sobieraj holds both a Real Estate Managing Broker License and Associate Appraisal License in the State of Illinois, which he leverages to support his current engagements. His brokerage practice, "Team Sobiko", is one of the first real estate brokerages to obtain the Licensed Virtual Real Estate Office designation in the state and U.S., embracing and leading the digital future of the industry.
Mr. Sobieraj began his involvement in the Real Estate Investment Association in 2019 as a member who was quickly integrated into several committees which include: the Membership, Emerging Leader and Scholarship committees. To date, Mr. Sobieraj has assisted in growing the general membership and emerging leader membership, has helped in awarding numerous scholarships to real estate students and volunteers on a regular basis in the administration of REIA events. Outside of the friendships and industry connections he has formed through participating in the organization, he is proud to have been awarded the 2020 REIA Scholarship and earning the Emerging Leader Advisory Board position for 2023/24.
Mr. Sobieraj is a DePaul University alumn who obtained both an undergraduate and graduate degree from the university. His undergraduate degree is in Public Relations & Advertising, while his graduate degree is a Master of Science in Real Estate.
When not engaged in real estate, which is difficult, Mr. Sobieraj exercises in several hobbies that include: rock climbing, competitive gaming, musicianship, magical performances, dog-dadding, spending time with family and participating in other volunteer opportunities which are typically aligned with his various interests.
